Silence continues to surround the tragic death of Dilshi Amshika, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Kotahena, whose life was cut short under deeply disturbing circumstances.
Dilshi reportedly died on 29 April 2025 after jumping from the 7th floor of the EXPO Apartments, Kotahena. Serious allegations have since emerged stating that she was subjected to sexual abuse by her mathematics teacher, N. S. Sankaran, at Ramanathan Hindu Ladies’ College, Colombo 4, and later publicly humiliated by the Director of Rajeshwari Institute, Kotahena.
Despite the gravity of these accusations, Dilshi’s parents continue to endure unbearable psychological pain, worsened by silence, delays, and inaction. Even months after her death, they are reportedly still waiting to receive their daughter’s official death certificate.
This case is not just about one child—it reflects a systemic failure to protect children, hold abusers accountable, and deliver timely justice. The tragedy underscores the urgent need for transparent investigations, institutional accountability, and stronger child-protection mechanisms.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
Dilshi’s voice must not be forgotten.
